James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Throughout my whole life (especially within the past 5 years), I’ve had a really difficult struggle with fear. But for the past month or so, the Holy Spirit had been pulling me to sit down before the Lord, write down on a piece of paper all the things that I am so fearful of, hold that paper up to God, then tear it up, and throw it in the trash. Although I put it off for quite some time, this past week I finally decided to walk out my faith and take action. I took heed of the Holy Spirit and did just as He instructed me to do. “God, these burdens are too heavy for me to carry. I can't do it. It’s too heavy. I want Your burden. I want Your yoke that I may be able to walk upright,” I said to God as I handed my burdens over to Him. As I sit here and type this blog, God is showing me how arrogant I was to even think that I would be able to function the way He wants me to function while holding onto things that are none of my business. I don’t know how He’s going to provide for me, but I know that He will. I don’t know how He’s going to keep me sane in the midst of a pandemic, but I know that He will. I don't know how He’s going to protect and cover my family and friends, but I know that He will. I don’t know where I’ll be in a year, but I know the One who makes my paths straight. Trust God. Don't worry about how He’s going to do it. That's not your business. It’s not your problem anymore. You don't hold tomorrow in your hands, God does. Now I understand why King Jesus asked His disciples, “Which one of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” Do you have the ability to merely speak and create a whole universe? Have you ever known anyone while they were in their mother’s womb? I say this not to our hurt, but to get us (including myself) to understand that we must humble ourselves before the Lord. We must understand that these burdens are too heavy for us to carry.
If you have a hard time believing God, say to yourself, “Self, have I even given myself the room to believe God? Have I taken the time to read the Word to see what He has promised me?” Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” OPEN YOUR BIBLE. Spend time with your Creator. While doing so, ask Him to help your unbelief. He will do it.
My brothers and sisters, let go. You are free. Surrender all fear, all worry, every burden, and every problem to God because He cares for you with such great care, that He gave His Son for you. I’m not saying that you won't experience troubles, trials, tribulation, and heartbreak. But even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, fear no evil. For God is with you. His rod and His staff, they will comfort you.
Humble yourself because you cannot lift you up the way in which God can.
Love you all.
